It is a private sports organisation whose objective is the promotion and practice of non-profit nautical sports. Its functioning is governed by democratic and representative principles, and full sovereignty resides in the General Assembly.

The Entity is governed by the Law 8/1988 de l’esport de Catalunya, by other dispositions that deploy it and by the Decree 145/1991, of July 7, 1991. Also by its Statutes and Internal Regulations approved by the General Assembly. Subsidiarily, the regulatory norms of the Catalan Sailing Federation to which the Club Nàutic Sa Riera is attached are applicable.

The Club Nàutic Sa Riera is registered in the Register of Sports Entities of the General Secretariat of Sport of the Generalitat de Catalunya, according to the Resolution of the Director General of Sport dated 15th September 1992.

The Club Nàutic Sa Riera is registered with the Catalan Sailing Federation, and is also a Sailing Centre. The Club Nàutic Sa Riera is also registered with the Federació Catalana de Motonàutica (Catalan Federation of Motonautics), and is in the process of becoming a Motor Nautical Centre.
